Dance classes

*NEW*Dance Company Fusion
In conjunction with the UVic Dance Company, this class will combine elements of contemporary jazz, street jazz, hip hop, house, bootcamp and yoga through an intense warm-up, across-the-floor, and fun choreography. This is an upper-level class, all participants should have a minimum of two years of dance experience. Registration Details

Bollywood Masala

A fusion of traditional and classical indian dances with the influence from Jazz, hip-hop, and modern dance. Timing, rhythm, energy and sharp controlled expressive movements are the important elements for this style Registration Details

Take it back a decade or two to relive iconic dance choreography!

Bellydance
Explore the allure of Middle Eastern dance. Begin with the basics of technique then gain an understanding of Middle Eastern rhythm's approach to improvisation, as well as folkloric and regioal dance traditions. Intermediate dancers can perfect moves and learn advanced techniques. Registration Details

Pussy Cat Dolls
Want to dance like the dolls? This clas is a mixture of Hip Hop and Street Jazz with provocative, fun & girlie choreography. Learn how to "shake what your mama gave you" in a comfortable setting. Registration Details

Tap
This unique dance form is rooted in African-American and Irish folkdance. Use your feet like drums to coordinate rhythmic patterns through a series of tap combinations. Registration Details



Martial arts

*NEW*Wing Chun
Wing Chun is a 300 year old Chinese Martial art and is currently the most popular Kung Fu art in the world; due in part to the late Bruce Lee and Ip man movies. It is a street survival art that is simple, quick, effective and economical. The complete art can be learned in less than six months. Wing Chun does not rely on brute strength. Low kicks, straight punches and immediate counterattacks are the trademark of Wing Chun. A form of 108 movements contains almost the entire art. This course is open to all levels from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. Registration Details

Aikido Introduction

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that focuses on neutralizing rather than 'winning' the conflict. It evolved in the traditions of the samurai arts and focuses on perfecting the spirit. This class is for beginners with no Aikido experience required. Join this welcoming Aikido group. No equipment required.Registration Details

Capoeira
Capoeira is a dynamic art form created by the African Slaves and influenced by the indigenous peoples of Brazil combining aspects of martial arts, music, acrobatics and dance. You will love the athleticism and motion of this discipline. Axe Capoeira opened Canada's first academy of Capoeira, and today the Group continues to rise as one of the leading Capoeira organizations in the world with enrolment of well over 20,000 students. Your instructors have decades of martial arts experience and are very knowledgeable. Come experience Brazilian culture at its very best and try Capoeira with us. Karate for kids 
Karate is fun for kids! And it is a great way to develop motor skills, physical activity, discipline and respect. Ages 5 to 15. Put your kids in this karate class and take your own karate class together with your kids. Great family activity!Registration Details

A grappling art and system of self-defense; this cornerstone of mixed martial arts training was originally designed to allow a smaller person to defend against a larger, stronger attacker in a realistic manner. Kendo Introduction
Kendo is a Japanese martial art based on the use of the samurai sword. Beginners are welcome to this welcoming and inclusive group. Beginner Shinai's (kendo swords) are available. The primary purposes of kendo is to develop awareness, centeredness, wholeheartedness, endurance, concentration, respect for others, and self-confidence. Kendo was first introduced to Victoria in 1986 by Davis sensei and practices have been held continuously at the University of Victoria since then. This Kendo group is the only active Kendo activity on Vancouver Island.Registration Details

Kendo For Kids
A great way for your child to learn about focus and respect, all while staying active and having fun! Designed for children aged 6 to 15. Registration Details

Training is conducted in a safe and positive environment, and participants are encouraged to improve their own physical fitness and mental character. This class is for beginners so come out to this welcoming environment. You will participate alongside other levels or karate participants.Registration Details

Taekwondo
Students will be introduced to the Olympic sport of Taekwondo; a Korean martial art. Particular emphasis will be placed self-defense, kicks and forms, which are preset patterns of movements designed to simulate the use of offensive and defensive techniques. This program will teach discipline, self-defense, respect and build fitness in a fun and welcoming environment. All levels are welcome. Registration Details

Womens Fitness Kickboxing
Enjoy the fitness benefits of kickboxing without the sparring, or competition. Improve your strength, endurance and coordination in this dynamic class! Learn the correct biomechanics of punching and kicking with emphasis on partnered drills to develop the practical application of your skills. Pads and targets are also used to provide resistance, relieve stress and teach your body how to effectively transfer force to a target. Registration Details

Womens Self Defence
Ladies, this is a great way to feel safer and boost your confidence. Learn basic options on how to defend from strikes, grabs and holds from both standing positions and on the ground. Train your awareness and basic self defence skills through partnered drills in a safe, fun and friendly class. Registration Details

Racquet sports

Junir Vikes Tennis
Get your kids playing the greatest game on earth! Join our Junior tennis stars and learn about the rhythm, balance and movement of the game. This course is designed for a maximum of six players on 1 court to ensure that everyone gets our instructors full attention. We have designed a fun and integrated class using the latest in tennis coaching techniques that keep the students moving. Registration Details

Squash Level 1

Learn the fundamentals of squash. These sessions introduce the rules, forehand/backhand drive, service and return, volley and basic strategies. Squash glasses, racquets and balls supplied. Registration Details

Squash Game Play
Take your game to the next level!! Sharpen your squash skills with this program designed to improve your drops, drives, court awareness and game strategy. Squash goggles and racquets are supplied; players are encouraged to bring their own equipment. Registration Details

Tennis - Level 1.0-1.5
This is a great opportunity to learn how to play. Learn the skills necessary to rally and keep score. Registration Details

Tennis - Level 2.0-2.5
This class is for participants who have completed a beginner or level 1 program, or have played a little and want to continue developing their stroke, technique and serve. Registration Details
